About Us ...

Bellevue Primary School is a state school providing quality education for
Years 1 to 6.
Bellevue School is :
- located in Wellington’s northern suburb of Newlands
- a decile 8 primary school
- divided in three syndicates, catering for years 0 – 6
- currently operating eleven classes
- a friendly and caring environment
The classes are organised into three teaching teams - Junior, Middle and Senior. The teams work closely together to plan and implement programmes to meet the learning needs of their students. Teaching programmes focus on providing teaching and learning for each student that meets their needs and stages of development. All teachers plan and teach multi-level programmes in the core curriculum of literacy and numeracy.
The school has thirteen classrooms, hall, and dental clinic. The library was renovated in 2001 and its resources are computerised using the Access IT package. The school is well resourced for both students and teachers, is fully networked and each classroom has 2 - 3 PCs on the network. We also have 17 laptops connected to our network by wireless. These are for student learning. The administration area was upgraded in 2002.
We have extensive play areas for our students as the school occupies two levels including two adventure playgrounds and a shade house. The grounds are kept in excellent condition by our caretaker.
One classroom is used daily as a base for the after school care programme "Kapai Kids" which is run as a separate business. Kapai Kidz after school care programme operates before and after school during term time and also runs a holiday programme.
Students enrol from the wider area of Newlands. Bellevue and Newlands kindergartens feed into the school. There is regular contact and visits with both of these kindergartens and regular pre school visits are an important part of the transition to school. The majority of pre schoolers visit 5-6 times before they officially start school.
