Absences
If your child is going to be absent from school please let us know by phoning the school between 8.30 an 9.30am. All absences are reported to the office and followed up.

Appointments
The Principal and staff welcome parents’ interest. If you wish to discuss any aspects of your children’s welfare or academic progress please don’t hesitate to contact the school.

Bicycles
Year 5 and 6 students may bring their bikes to school on receipt of written permission from a parent. The bikes will be padlocked to the fence outside the staffroom during the day.

Cars
Parents are asked to park outside the school ground unless collecting sick children or delivering goods etc. In the interests of safety please do not turn at the gate but use the turning area at the end of Bancroft Terrace.

Dental Clinic
The school has a Dental Clinic which operates for periods of time during the year.

Library
Students are able to bring books home to read. Please help us by ensuring they are returned by the due date.

Lost Property
It is of great assistance to us if articles are named so that they may be returned to their owners immediately. There is a lost property storage in the Medical room.

Lunches
Lunches are available from school on Mondays only. The menu is available on request from the office.

Money
Students are discouraged from bringing money or expensive toys to school. Money for lunches, trips etc should be sent in a sealed named envelope.

Newsletters
The newsletter is sent home every Wednesday and is online. As well as news of the school we welcome community notices for insertion.

Photographs
Class, individual and family photos will be taken during the first term.

Reporting to Parents
Parents are encouraged to make an appointment to discuss their child’s progress at any time. Parent/Teacher meetings and goal setting takes place in February.

The purpose of these is to share information about your child, discuss any concerns and set goals for the year. Written reports are sent home at the end of term two and Formal Parent/Teacher interviews take place following that. Written reports are again sent home at the end of term four.

Stationery
Stationery is available throughout the year from the School Office. Parents may choose to purchase their child’s stationery from the School or another source.

Swimming
All students will be offered a swimming programme at Tawa Pool. Small groups will be offered individual instruction once a week for the duration of Term 3.

Traffic Wardens
Traffic Wardens are on duty at Kenmore Street crossing and in Bancroft Terrace before and after school. There is not much space for cars after school and we ask that parents turn at the end of Bancroft Terrace. Please don’t park on the yellow lines or in front of the cones outside the school gates so that the Traffic Wardens can direct the students crossing.

Telephone Numbers
Please let the school know of any changes of address, phone number or emergency contacts that happen during the year.
